Project Cambodia 2024

This was our largest Playground Project to date.

We started with our first playground removal from St Pius School in Edmonton. We then removed a second playground from Assumption Catholic School in Oyen, AB. The two playgrounds were removed by our volunteers and the equipment was refurbished.

Parkworks (MAKR Group) sponsored nearly $30,000.00 in new independent playground equipment.

Sports equipment, educational items and toys were donated by various Communities and Schools. We were so fortunate to receive so many wonderful donations that we had to get 2 – 40ft containers to get everything to Cambodia.

The two large playgrounds were installed by the volunteers from CDRS International that traveled to Cambodia for this project in 2024. Along with the volunteers from CDRS International, we also had a great response from the local volunteers in Cambodia.

The playground completion was celebrated with a Grand Opening. The Grand Opening was attended by Cambodian Dignitaries, residents of the Community and 200 to 300 children.

The Cambodian Government were extremely helpful to work with. Not only did they waive all taxes, they also ensured the site prep for the playground installation was completed for us. The Cambodian Government had our shipping containers processed through customs and provided a police escort for the 3-hour trip from port to the site.

The group made the decision to travel back to Cambodia so that they can donate and install another playground in another much-needed community. This project will be done in 2027.
